This morning marks a major win for our community, with funding announced for the grade separation of the Hove Railway Crossing at Brighton Road. This is a giant step forward to fixing traffic congestion and improving safety along the Brighton Road Corridor.
I had the pleasure to meet with the Premier Steven Marshall MP, Minister for Transport, the Hon Stephen Knoll MP, the Hon David Speirs MP and Federal Member for Boothby Nicolle Flint MP this morning to announce that $171 million has been jointly secured by the Marshall and Morrison Governments.
With over 40,000 daily vehicle movements, Brighton Road is one of Adelaide’s busiest roads, but it is blocked by boom gates for 25% of peak travel time.
Hove Crossing has been a long standing problem in our community and I have worked hard with Nicolle, Minister Speirs and Minister Knoll in addressing this issue and finding the solution.
Having worked very closely and communicated regularly with the community on the successful “Fix Oaklands Crossing” project, it is my intention to offer the same service to the community for this project.
We have held regular community meetings, delivered countless communications and kept everyone fully informed through e-news updates and through our website for Oaklands Crossing and I want this to continue for Hove Crossing.
It is important we undertake thorough consultation along this journey and I want to make sure everyone is kept up to date every step of the way throughout this process.
To receive these updates as new information comes to hand, please email or phone my office (firstname.lastname@example.org, (08) 8377 3500) and mention “Fix Brighton Road - Hove Crossing”.
