Update - Clovelly Park and Mitchell Park EPA investigation

Last year I asked the State Government to keep me updated on the Environment Protection Authority’s (EPA) contamination assessment program in Clovelly Park and Mitchell Park.

While no suburb in the Mitchell electorate was included in the contamination investigation, contaminated areas were identified in neighbouring suburbs and as such I requested to be kept informed so that our community could be aware of any changes to the contamination area.

I recently received an update from the Deputy Premier and Minister for Housing and Urban Development, Hon. John Rau MP, on the assessment program.  He has informed me that Renewal SA will commence further investigations in sections of Clovelly Park and Mitchell Park which will continue for approximately 6 months. These investigations are considered Phase 2 of the contamination assessment program. He has also advised that the investigation area has been increased slightly to include an area north of Alawoona Avenue in Mitchell Park.

A community meeting is being hosted by Renewal SA on Tuesday 21 July from from 4.00pm to 7.00pm at the Mitchell Park Sports and Community Club. Residents who have questions about this investigation or the investigation area can contact Renewal SA on the 24hr Hotline 1800 715 227 or via email to cpmp-phase2@sa.gov.au.

Suburbs in the electorate of Mitchell continue to be unaffected by the investigation however I will continue to request that I am kept updated so that I can inform residents of any changes as soon as they come to light.
