World Teachers' Day
SEPTEMBER 28, 2017
Mr WINGARD (Mitchell) (12:03): I rise today also to speak in support of the motion:
That this house—
(a) celebrates World Teachers' Day held annually on 5 October; and
(b) acknowledges the vital and inspirational role teachers play in providing quality education in a range of settings and to a diverse range of community members.

Mr WINGARD (Mitchell) (10:51): I move:
That this house—
(a) acknowledges the critical role that Noarlunga Hospital plays in the delivery of health services to the people of Adelaide's southern suburbs;
(b) notes that, prior to the 2014 state election, the Labor Party promised to invest $31 million in upgrading Noarlunga Hospital but subsequently reduced this funding allocation by more than half; and
(c) recognises the quality and commitment of the front-line staff who work at Noarlunga Hospital and their concern that the government's Transforming Health program is undermining the hospital's long-term future as a general community hospital.

Mr WINGARD ( Mitchell ) ( 12:36 :38 ): I rise today, too, to speak in support of the motion brought forward by the member for Chaffey, who is a very good member. His motion states that this house urges the state government to implement a Code Blue in regional South Australia as already in place in metropolitan Adelaide to assist homeless and rough sleepers in the regions during extreme weather events; acknowledges the need for agencies to work together during times of extreme weather events to help relocate and assist rough sleepers; and highlights the immediate need to have a Code Blue implemented in the Riverland to be used in major weather events such as a high river.

Mr WINGARD ( Mitchell ) ( 16:27 ): There has been a lot of debate around this most recent state budget, potentially more than ever before. The government's failed Transforming Health program has come under scrutiny. The constant ramping of ambulances at the Flinders Medical Centre is a hot topic. The issues of emergency departments closing across the city, the downgrading of services at Noarlunga Hospital and the shameful government decision to close down the Repat hospital have South Australians up in arms.

Mr WINGARD ( Mitchell ) ( 15:17 ): I rise today to speak on a great outcome for my community. Confronted with a 40-year-old problem that created delays and frustrations, as well as safety issues, it was rewarding to join our community on a Fix Oaklands Crossing campaign. This has been a win for the people and now we have a solution for these ongoing safety and congestion issues that have long been paining our local area.
