With the end of Term 4 fast approaching, most students are looking forward to Christmas and summer holidays! However, Year 12 students have been completing their final exams and looking forward to their next steps in life. I always look forward to congratulating the Year 12s from Brighton Secondary School, Westminster School and Seaview High School, and hearing about their plans for the future.

Each year I invite all Primary Schools in our local community to participate in my annual Christmas Card Competition. The winners get to see their artwork turned into one of my Community Christmas Cards which I send far and wide. Winners also receive a few to send to their own family and friends.

Warren and Joan Dorling recently celebrated their 60th Wedding Anniversary. Having lived in Warradale since their wedding day, I loved hearing about how they started dating and stayed together over the last 60 years.

It was a glorious day for everyone involved with the North Brighton Community Garden when they officially opened the Garden to the public recently.
Following a three year journey, multiple location changes and a few speed bumps along the way, it has been full steam ahead since the group received approval in February this year to develop the Garden on the south west corner of Bowker Oval.

On Friday 20 September I attended the official opening of the Crown Street Reserve Upgrade in Dover Gardens. Prior to the rain setting in, it was exciting to see how well this upgrade has created a recreation space for everyone to enjoy. I feel extremely privileged to have helped deliver this project for our community.

Every year, in conjunction with my friend and neighbour the member for Black, I hold a winter warmer event to present Community Recognition Awards to local residents who make a big difference in our communities. It is great to do these awards because so many people out there do so many things, but there are people out there who just fly under the radar, and our intent is to capture those people.

What a night! This year I hosted my annual Winter Warmer in conjunction with the Marilyns to help raise funds for Cancer Council SA.
The Marilyns are a group of bold, fabulous women who take part in the Brighton Jetty Classic, swimming or paddling 400 metres around the Brighton Jetty every February―all dressed head to toe as our favourite ‘50s icon, Marilyn Monroe.
