Tonight I visited the Seaside Writers and sat in on one of their fantastic fortnightly meetings.

In light of Plastic Free July, Minister Speirs and I had the privilege of meeting Catryn Zappia at her local business, Bare Pantry, which opened this year here in Brighton.
The mission of the Bare Pantry is to provide sustainable and plastic free items to use in your home. The Pantry provides plastic-free pantry staples that customers fill their glass jars with. You can bring I your own jars to fill with the products on offer.
The business champions local produce, while aiming to reduce the carbon footprint of South Australian people. The Pantry itself is 100% carbon neutral, as well as recyclable. They have a range of products, including food staples, home wear, hygiene and cosmetic goods. The Pantry aims to provide a diverse cross-section of products.Read more
Tonight I hosted dinner at Parliament House for a group of talented music students in our community.
Students from Brighton Secondary School volunteered their time earlier this month to support my 2021 Winter Warmer and Fundraiser, where we raise more than $9,000 for the Sophia Naismith Foundation.
These students played lovely music for guests throughout night and it was a pleasure to say thank you by sharing a meal with them.Read more

I'm getting in touch to let you know after weighing up expert advice and following extensive community consultation the Hove Level Crossing Removal Project will not be proceeding. Instead the Marshall Liberal Government will now focus on a Ten Year Level Crossing Removal Program that will prioritise and identify the highest priority level crossings for removal.
The detailed analysis of both the rail-over and rail-under design options found the least costly of the two would be around $120 million more than the available budget.
The current budget allocation of $171 million is inadequate to remove the level crossing with the rail-over option estimated to cost $290 million and the rail-under cost estimated to cost $450 million.Read more
It was fantastic to visit the Sturt-Marion Thunder soccer club in June. I met the new president of the club Binny Moon, who showed me around the facilities they have available at the club. We spoke about what the club has to offer, and the importance of sport in the community. After COVID-19 has meant we have to adapt how we socialise, this reinforced the critical role sport plays in building a sense of community.
I congratulated the club on receiving $1,900 in the Round 49 Active Club Grants in 2020. This was used to contribute to the upkeep of the club. The Active Club Program runs to help our community sporting clubs with grants up to $3,000 available.Read more
