SA Budget 2020: keeping South Australia safe and strong

2020 has certainly been a year we will never forget.

When I'm at community events, phone canvassing, door knocking or speaking with residents at my "Coffee with Corey" catch-ups, many of you have taken the time to share with me how your family or small business has been impacted by the COVID-19 pandemic, creating the greatest health and economic challenge of our time.

With your feedback, personal stories and suggestions on how we can better improve our community, I appreciate how important it is we create jobs, invest in infrastructure, improve public transport and provide health services closer to home.

We have thrown everything at this virus. To save lives and livelihoods, to save jobs and businesses, and to cement South Australia as the safest state in the safest nation.

In the SA Budget 2020, released today, the State Government is responding with the same strength and resolve with the single biggest hit of economic adrenaline the state has ever seen.

We are building what matters and creating jobs – our record $16.7 billion infrastructure investment, creating over 19,000 jobs and upgrading roads, major sporting facilities, schools and hospitals.

We are backing businesses – with payroll tax relief and a second round of $10,000 cash grants, helping local businesses keep the lights on, doors open and people employed.

We are improving health services – closer to home with an additional $30 million to reactivate the Repat, including a $6 million new ward to support patients with brain and spinal injuries.

We are upgrading schools – with over $50 million in capital works across our local schools, from Brighton Secondary School and Seaview High School to Warradale Primary School, with a world-class education hub, specialised learning areas, STEM classrooms and so much more.

And, we are delivering the final section of the North-South Corridor. The final design includes two tunnels, will create up to 4,000 jobs and will save you up to 24 minutes per trip. Find out more here.

We will continue to keep South Australia safe and strong.
