One of the first matters brought to my attention when I was elected was the trouble that the Patritti family was having getting the sign on Morphett Rd replaced after it was knocked over.
Despite a few attempts and some odd excuses the Department refused to put it back up.
Given that wineries in rural regions all have tourist signs pointing to their cellar door it was greatly unfair that a rare working winery in the city was not being afforded the same courtesy.
It was also pointed out by people on the community that the sign was a key "landmark indicator" on Morphett Rd and was sorely missed.
Thankfully persistence paid off and the Department did change its mind and the sign was replaced.
Having a working winery and cellar door so close to Marion Shopping Centre is a real bonus to our community. I can highly recommend a visit if you haven't been before they have an outstanding range of white, red, fortified and non-alcoholic wine.
If you'd like to read more about the history of Patritti winery below is a speech I presented in Parliament.Read more
Mr WINGARD ( Mitchell ) ( 15:21 ): I rise today to speak on a very hot topic in my electorate that just keeps getting hotter. I am being hounded on social media and with phone calls and letters to my campaign office from people complaining and telling me about the ongoing delays caused by the Oaklands crossing in the electorate of Mitchell. It is an absolute crying shame that, over the journey, this government, in the past 12 years, has done nothing to fix this ongoing saga that just will not go away.Read more

Mr WINGARD ( Mitchell ) ( 15:11 :01 ): It is with great pleasure that I rise today to talk about some unsung heroes in and around my electorate, who are recognised by the City of Marion and I commend them for doing so. The electorate of Mitchell from Oaklands Park to Reynella is home to a terrific group of South Australians. Growing up in the electorate and living in the local community, the people of Mitchell have inspired and influenced me personally and professionally. In my maiden speech to Parliament I spoke of the people of Mitchell as my biggest source of inspiration and motivation as it is you who make our communities a great place to live, work and socialise

Mr WINGARD ( Mitchell ) ( 15:28:15 ): I rise today to talk about the ongoing saga that is the Oaklands Park train crossing, which is where Diagonal Road and Morphett Road dissect the train line at the northern end of the Mitchell electorate on the boundary I share with Elder. I was interested to hear the member for Elder talk about public transport just the other day in the house, and she stressed that she wanted to be positive. The member for Elder spoke about the Tonsley train line being up and running, but I was flabbergasted that at no time did she mention the number one transport issue in her electorate: the burning issue that is the Oaklands Park train crossing. I am positive that the people of Mitchell and Elder and the surrounds are very frustrated with the Oaklands Park crossing.Read more
