Emergency Services Levy

I have received almost a thousand responses from local residents opposing Labor’s hikes to the Emergency Services Levy.  When South Australians are already doing it tough, it is sad to see we have a government who have little hesitation in taking even more money from the pockets of homeowners, families, community groups, schools, and volunteer organisations.  What’s worse is that not a single cent more will be spent on emergency services, despite some people’s ESL bills going up more than 1000%!

Friends of O'Halloran Hill Recreation Park

It was a pleasure to spend a few hours with the Hon. Michelle Lensink and the Friends of O’Halloran Hill Recreation Park group recently.

John Bollinger and his volunteer crew took us around the park and showed us the great work they are doing eradicating the Olive Trees from the property. We also enjoyed some of the most spectacular views of Adelaide. I must say that the park is one of Adelaide’s best kept secrets - the walking and mountain bike trails and simply superb.

John gave Michelle and me some gloves and a pick so we could offer some assistance to the campaign of removing all the Olive weeds. This volunteer group does a marvellous job and if you have spare time and would like to lend a hand please contact my office and we’ll put you in touch, or you can link through to the Friends of O’Halloran Hill Recreation Park group via my website.

The Friends of O'Halloran Hill Recreation Park is a great local group working to support the community and the environment.

I spoke in Parliament about the group, below is a Hansard transcript.

White Ribbon Day - Stop Domestic Violence

Domestic Violence comes in all shapes and sizes, and doesn't always leave a visible mark.  We need to help all victims feel brave enough to stand up against the violence and seek help.

I recently spoke in Parliament about White Ribbon Day, below is the Hansard transcript.

Liberals' Freedom of Information Bill

New Bill to criminalise improper interference with FOI requests

The Liberals introduced a Bill making it illegal for a Government Minister, or their staff, from giving improper directions or influence to a Government agency that has been served with a Freedom of Information request.

In a national comparison of Freedom of Information (FOI) laws, South Australia has often been referred to as the most secretive state in the nation after 12 years of Labor.

I recently spoke on this Bill in Parliament, below is the Hansard transcript.
