Adelaide trains continue to run late
Thursday, 30 July 2015
Official statistics show the performance of Adelaide’s train network continued to decline with almost ten per cent of trains running late last week.
“Train commuters in Adelaide are being let down by a State Government that is simply incapable of lifting the performance of the network to acceptable levels,” said Shadow Transport Minister Corey Wingard
“The performance of trains running on the Outer Harbor, Seaford and Gawler lines all declined whilst the line Belair merely managed to tread water.
“Adelaide Metro’s On Time Running Performance shows that just 91 per cent of trains arrived on time in the last week, down from 92.4 per cent.
The Outer Harbor line now has the unwelcome label of being the worst performing service with just 87.1 per cent of trains running on time, a fall of 2.8 per cent in just one week.
“The Belair line continued to perform well below par with just 88.9 per cent of trains arriving on time.
“Why are our trains running so late after the Labor Government has spent more than $500 million on rail revitalisation?
“Adelaide commuters just want a train service that is safe and runs on time.
“Unfortunately, the Weatherill Labor Government continually fails to deliver this.
“The service component needs to be restored to Adelaide’s public transport system if we are to entice Adelaide commuters out of their cars and onto public transport.
“This news is even more frustrating for commuters who have had to put up with a number of service delays and interruptions over the years.
“It is quite staggering that the Weatherill Labor Government still can’t manage to run our train network properly so that trains arrive on time.”
