Hamilton Park Reserve – Community Consultation
As many of you already know, the State Government has delivered funding in the amount of $180,000 to the City of Marion to construct a new automated toilet block at Hamilton Avenue Reserve.
I am sure you will all agree that this will be a great addition to the Reserve, allowing more people and families in the community an opportunity to enjoy nature in their own backyard. It has also prompted the City of Marion to look at redeveloping this wonderful open space and I urge everyone get along to the Community Consultation being held at the Reserve this Sunday, 2 December 2018 from 4 - 5pm.
Alternatively, if you can’t make it and would like to share your thoughts and ideas on what should happen on the Reserve, head to www.makingmarion.com.au/hamilton-park-reserve.
Bowker Oval – here to stay!
I am excited to announce that the Marshall Government, in conjunction with the City of Holdfast Bay, has signed and secured the Bowker Street Oval as a community recreation space for the next 20 years.
Retaining Bowker Street Oval as a community recreation space was one of my election commitments, and I am pleased to deliver on this promise. This is a fantastic open space for the residents and sporting clubs of our community and I look forward to seeing more people enjoy the oval long into the future.
The City of Holdfast Bay is also looking for community feedback as to whether this may be the perfect location for the Brighton Community Garden. For more information and to share your views, please .visit their website at www.yourviewholdfast.com/BowkerOval.
An Afternoon at Westfield Marion
Last week I had the opportunity to meet and greet people in the local community whilst holding a Listening Post at Westfield Marion.
Together with my colleagues, the Federal Member for Boothby, Nicolle Flint and the State Member for Black, the Hon David Speirs MP, we got to discuss the Oaklands Crossing Project and how it is progressing.
Nicolle, David and I have worked closely together to deliver the Oaklands Crossing upgrade for our respective communities and we will continue to work together to keep you updated throughout the rest of the journey.
After years of hard work and tireless campaigning from the community, we are getting closer to the finished product and I am so excited to see the final outcome!
Welcome to Australia BBQ
Last weekend, the SA Aquatic & Leisure Centre hosted a Welcome to Australia BBQ for new migrants in our community to come along and enjoy a swim and try a few new sports.
I would like to acknowledge the efforts of St Elizabeths of Hungary Anglican Church, Rotary Club of Edwardstown, City of Marion, Mid Coast Surf Group, Marion Swim Club, Marion Cricket Club, Marion Football Club, the SA Aquatic & Leisure Centre and YMCA who put on such a great evening.
It was also great to hear that some of Life Saving World Championship Teams were able to join in the festivities and I know Nicolle Flint, Federal Member for Boothby and Kimberley from my office had fun getting a few photos with the Brazilian, Kenyan, Malaysian, Indian and Iranian LWC 2018 teams.
I’m glad to see them enjoying themselves down under.
