Labor’s embarrassing Seaford line blunder

Further confusion for southern rail passengers has ensued after more incompetence from the Weatherill Labor Government over the management of the Seaford line.

This week, ads were placed in The Messenger newspapers informing southern suburb residents of nightly closures on the Seaford line due to essential track maintenance.

However, an announcement on the Adelaide Metro website today says the newspaper ad was placed “in error” and the line will not be closed:

“You may be aware of an advertisement in several local Messenger newspapers advising of works to be undertaken on the Seaford Line.

The advertisement was placed in error.

Works will be carried out on the Seaford Line, however they will not affect Seaford or Tonsely (sic) train operations.”

“This is nothing but complete and utter incompetence from the Weatherill Labor Government,” said Shadow Transport Minister Corey Wingard.

“Apart from the potential inconvenience to southern rail passengers, there is also the cost borne by taxpayers of placing the ad in the newspaper.

“The Seaford line has become nothing more than an “on-again, off-again” merry-go-round.

“No wonder South Australians are turning away from public transport in droves.

“Transport Minister Stephen Mullighan must immediately apologise for this latest bungle.

“It is simply not good enough.”
