I can’t believe it’s that time of the year again! I would like to take this opportunity to thank you for allowing me to share what is happening in our local community and I look forward to keeping you up to date with what is going on in our local area in 2019.
Wishing you all a happy and safe Christmas and New Year and thank you for your continued support.
1. Gibson Christmas Card competition
Over the past two weeks we presented certificates to three lucky students at Westminster Primary School, Christ the King School and Stella Maris Parish School who were the winners of my 2018 Christmas card competition.
We had a number of fantastic entries this year, which certainly did not make choosing the winners easy.
I look forward to running another competition next year and seeing all the fantastic artwork our local students create.
2. Operation Flinders
Congratulations to the "Tango 7" Operation Flinders Foundation Team who completed an adventure of a lifetime in September. A big thanks to Relationships Australia South Australia, City of Marion, Lions Club of Hallett Cove & Districts Inc., Lions Club of Brighton Inc, Marion Lions Club and Lions Club of Edwardstown for giving these young people the opportunity to take on the Flinders Ranges.

3. Extreme heat
Over the Christmas break we may experience extreme heat. It is very important for everyone to know what the effects of extreme heat are, who is at risk and what to do to prepare for and cope during times of extreme heat.
Heatwaves affect our:
- health and wellbeing
- energy and infrastructure
- public transport
Heat can affect anyone. The elderly, babies, young children and outdoor workers are those at risk during a heatwave.
Tips to stay well during hot weather:
4. Year 7 School Graduations
It’s also that time of year when we congratulate all the Year 7’s in Gibson as they farewell Primary School and head into High School in 2019. I had the pleasure of attending the graduation ceremonies at Paringa Park Primary School, Marion Primary School and Brighton Primary School and also wishing the students at Warradale Primary School and Darlington Primary school the best of luck.
What a talented group of young people we have who all have bright futures ahead of them.
5. Gibson Electorate Office
Please note that my electorate office will be closed over the Christmas Break and re-open with full staff from Monday 7 January 2019.
However, you can still contact me through my 24 Hour Office on my website at any time: http://www.coreywingard.com.au/24hr_office
