There is no justification for the Weatherill Labor Government dipping further into the pockets of South Australians by increasing the Emergency Services Levy again.
The Weatherill Labor Government has today announced that it will increase the Emergency Services Levy again.
The levy will increase by $23 (or 9 per cent) for the average metropolitan residential property worth $426,400; by $187 (or 10 per cent) for the average commercial property valued at $1.5 million, and by $178 (or 7 per cent) for an industrial property worth $1.2 million.
This latest increase will raise an extra $20 million for the State Government.
There is absolutely no justification for the Weatherill Labor Government dipping further into the pockets of South Australians by increasing the ESL again, given that the Weatherill Labor Government is set to receive an additional $857 million in unbudgeted GST revenue from the Federal Government.
The Weatherill Government’s massive increases in the ESL tax doesn’t just hit homeowners; it is also levied on sporting clubs, community organisations, churches and independent schools.
South Australians cannot have money ripped out their pockets by the Weatherill Labor Government time and time again – enough is enough.
Massive ESL hikes two years in a row is an utterly disgraceful act by the Weatherill Labor Government, given that many South Australians are struggling to make ends meet as it is.
Increasing the ESL again shows just how out of touch Premier Weatherill is with South Australians.
A State Liberal Government will return the ESL remission that Mr Weatherill and Mr Koutsantonis cruelly removed last year and provide South Australians with much needed tax relief.
