On the 11th February 2021, I was able to visit the Repat Hospital, which is currently in Phase Two of the refurbishment and redevelopment plan. The aim of this project is to provide and boost health services for those in the South.
I had the opportunity to tour the new facilities with local Member for Elder, Carolyn Power MP. It was fantastic to see the new developments and how this project has progressed. It is particularly important for those suffering with dementia, as the development includes a state-of-the-art 12 bed specialist facility for patients with this condition requiring short term medical treatment before returning to their homes.
The Repat Health Precinct redevelopment is the first step of the Southern Health Expansion Plan. The second is increasing the acute capacity and overnight medical cover in the Emergency Department, and the third is further adding to the space available in the Flinders Medical Centre.
This series of developments over the coming months will ensure that everyone in the South, and by extension, Adelaide, has access to safe, efficient and modern healthcare and facilities.
