This year it was an honour to help launch the Target and Uniting Care Christmas Appeal at the Southgate Shopping Plaza which was wonderfully organised by Mr Leon Magrin.
The appeal is committed to ensuring no child misses out on the joy of opening a Christmas present. It is also a chance for Australians to come together, show compassion and help those most in need.
Christmas is a great time of year to appreciate and spend time with our family and friends but it is also an important time of year to remember those who might not be as fortunate.
Locally, we have many terrific organisations which help make Christmas brighter for those in need and last year I invited community members to leave non-perishable foods at my office for St Elizabeth of Hungary Anglican Church in Oaklands Park to distribute. The generosity from our community was wonderful!
This year I again welcome donations of non-perishable food suitable for Christmas dinner. I also welcome donations of gifts for children which will be passed on to the Target and Uniting Care Christmas Appeal. Donations can be dropped off to my Electorate Office at Level 2, 1 Milham Street Oaklands Park and placed under our tree anytime from now up until Monday 21 December.
