Seniors' Forum: Stroke Awareness & Prevention

Thank you to all those who attended my Seniors’ Forum about "Stroke Awareness and Prevention" last Friday afternoon.

While this year wasn't our usual set-up of over 100 guests and a lovely afternoon tea, we worked around COVID-19 restrictions so that our seniors could still enjoy our annual community forum.

Did you know that stroke is one of Australia’s biggest killers and a leading cause of disability? However, more than 80% of strokes can be prevented.

Our volunteer guest speaker, Janet Weir from the @strokefoundation provided valuable information about how to recognise the warning signs and symptoms, better understand stroke and how it can be prevented.

Janet highlighted the importance of living a healthy life in reducing the risk of stroke, and gave us all some practical tips to take home.

A massive thank you to Janet for her excellent presentation and to all local residents for attending the forum.
