I want to start by sincerely thanking you for your understanding and cooperation during our community pause.
By banding together, it has provided our hard-working contact tracing team vital time to not only tackle the Parafield Cluster, but also avoid further community transmission.
With the information available at the time of the outbreak, the unequivocal health advice from our Chief Public Health Officer was clear; we needed a circuit breaker to stay ahead of the coronavirus pandemic. However, we have since learnt that someone deliberately misled our contact tracing team.
I can not begin to express how incredibly disappointing it was to learn this news. I can appreciate that many in our community, including myself, are angry and frustrated about the inconvenience caused on our families, seniors and local businesses.
It has always been our intention to not keep these circuit breaker restrictions in place for one day longer than absolutely necessary.
As a result, some restrictions have ended effective immediately:
- You are now able to exercise outside with members of your household. This includes dog walking.
- Masks are not mandatory but encouraged when in public
From 12:01AM on Sunday, the following restrictions will be eased:
- The Stay at Home Order will be lifted
- Gyms and indoor fitness will reopen
- Non-essential businesses will be able to reopen
- Schools will be able to re-open on Monday
In addition to this, my Gibson Electorate Office will re-open on Monday where they'll continue providing assistance to constituents and our local community.
Please keep in mind some restrictions will remain in place to allow SA Health to continue safely tracking this virus. For example, 1 person per 4 sqm will remain.
