Brighton Primary School is one of our great local schools with an inclusive atmosphere clear from the moment you step onto the school grounds. School Principal, Ian Filer and 10 impressive young students on from the Student Executive proudly showed me around their school community in a personal tour.
The school is also a Centre for Deaf Education, which does amazing work catering for the learning needs of deaf or hard-of-hearing students so they receive the necessary support to excel in school.
The Student Executive taught me how to sign the alphabet in AUSLAN and the deaf choir also performed the song “I am Australian”.
It was wonderful to see the diverse and inclusive nature of the school up close. I commend Principal Filer and his teaching team for working closely and collaboratively with students to enrich their experience at school and create positive learning outcomes for all.
