One of the greatest challenges of COVID-19 restrictions has been dealing with separation and isolation, especially among older residents in the community.
When restrictions on social gatherings eased, and with a COVID-safe plan in place, Townsend Retirement Village held a special birthday celebration for one of its oldest residents, Mr Ron Rosenberg, who turned 100.
As I sat down with Ron, he told me about how he keeps an active mind and body in spite of being a centenarian. Would you believe he even does his own tax returns!
Before he retired to Townsend in 2004, Ron tried his hand at many jobs including a telegraph messenger, railway clerk, a soldier during WWII and a newspaper director.
Highlights of the birthday party included live music from some of the talented residents, beautiful speeches and superb birthday singing by students from the nearby McAuley School who visited Ron on this happy occasion.
Happy birthday, Ron!
