By staying apart, we're working together to stop the spread of COVID-19.
Thank you for adapting. Thank you for being patient and thank you for staying home.
Sadly, this week South Australia has recorded three deaths from coronavirus. This is a timely reminder that, although we are flattening the curve, we cannot afford to be complacent.
This means that, while we all like to get away over Easter and the school holidays, now is not the time to be travelling - especially to our regions. Stay home and stop the spread. We could not be clearer about this. Do it for your family, friends and for our community.
This week, the State Government has continued to implement its strong plan to protect South Australians and prepare health and other services. This includes bringing forward a $45.7 million expansion of the Flinders Medical Centre Emergency Department and signing a historic deal to enable use of the state's extensive private hospital network.
We now have more paramedics, more beds, more ICU equipment and a stronger workforce. We hope we will never need this increased capacity but if we do - it's there.
We have also announced emergency cash payments of $10,000 for small businesses and not-for-profits who have suffered a significant loss of income or been forced to close as a result of COVID-19 related restrictions. This is another part of our Jobs Rescue Package which also includes tax and fee relief as well as direct financial assistance for businesses.
To keep upated with the latest announcements, please get in touch with my office by phoning (08) 8377 3500 or send an email so we can add you to the COVID-19 mailing list.
Thank you for your support and understanding during this time.
