Big Bash final needs extra public transport
The State Liberals have called on the Weatherill Labor Government to provide extra public transport services for the 50,000 people expected to attend the Adelaide Strikers’ Big Bash semi-final at Adelaide Oval tomorrow.
At the election Labor promised free public transport to major events held at Adelaide Oval.
“There were complaints after previous Big Bash events that there was not adequate public transport,” said Shadow Minister for Transport, Corey Wingard.
“The Strikers’ game this weekend is expected to attract the biggest cricket crowd yet at the redeveloped Adelaide Oval.
“To ensure that Strikers’ fans can easily get to the game and then get home, the Government should provide additional public transport services.
“We don’t want to see people left stranded without a way home because all the busses, trains, and trams are full.
“Labor promised free public transport to major events, now they must deliver.
“South Australians have paid for a great new stadium and we deserve a public transport system that will support it.”
